The Symposium
Powerful Talks
18th May 2018
8:00 am - 6:30 pm
Computational Genomics holds great promise for advancing our understanding of all living organisms. Technological advancements in Genomics continue to come at alarming rate; there are numerous complexities to consider. For the uninitiated, planning for an initial experiment and coping with data, can be overwhelming. To help guide discovery and development in Genomics, we have assembled leading experts, both academic and industry, to share their work and experiences. The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum for sharing, learning, and networking.
The symposium is open to anyone who is interested in Genomics and Bioinformatics! We close off the day with a poster competition and social, where cash prizes are awarded! Breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and the social are provided at no cost to attendees thanks to our gracious sponsors. There is no fee to attend but registration is required.

About geXc
What is geXc?
The Genomic Exchange Community (geXc, pronounced “jexy”), started as a single one-hour educational seminar in 2011 about Next Generation Sequencing. With an overwhelming response, it was clear at that time, there was a thirst to understand the complexity of Genomics. After that, several educational seminars were held with equal enthusiasm to discover the potential of genomics to impact every aspect of science. Since then we decided to work with key opinion leaders to create a full-day symposia format, with a focus on how science is advanced through advanced genomic technologies and their approaches. We have held these one-day educational events in multiple cities, and have brought together nearly 4,000 scientists since 2012.
The geXc symposia are always co-sponsored with individual academic institutions, who graciously provide a venue and help promote the content. The geXc symposia generally have 13-15 speakers from local key opinion leaders from multiple disciplines. Talks are also provided by industry sponsors, with a specific focus on scientific relevance. The attendees are provided breakfast, lunch, and coffee/tea and snacks during the breaks. Closing out the day, there is a revered wine and cheese social and poster competition
Due to the gracious contributions from the sponsors, this event is free to all. Past sponsors include D-MARK, geXc, Roche, Thermofisher, Illumina, Kapa Biosystems, PacBio, Covaris, Lucigen, Lexogen, NEB, IDT, Bioo Scientific, Perkin Elmer, Hamilton, Golden Helix, Spiral Genetics, Lab7, DNAnexus, BioTeam, Panasas, Western Digital, HGST, SanDisk, Weka.io, General Atomics, Ovation.io, PierianDx, and Omicia.
